Koskil 2021 Pinot Noir (Patagonia, Argentina)

This is probably not what I'd call “beginner Pinot.” On the nose, it’s got an obnoxious “dirty barnyard” thing going on followed up by an extremely pretty palate; cherry forward but floral with balanced vanilla notes. It's a delight, but it never really gives up on the sheep shit notes. It's kinda like that friend in high school who's enjoyable to hang out with except they're always asking you to smell their finger. But the pay off was great... one of those wines you wanna sip slow and take your time with.
Overall, this bottle is something of a mystery. Koskil is, apparently, a brand under Grupo Peñaflor (one of the largest producers in the world) - but the group doesn’t seem to claim it. I can’t find a tech sheet or producer site. Regardless, it's way better than it should be for $14.
